Founded in 1922 as Alpha Alpha Gamma, a national sorority for women architecture students. Graduates formed the Association of Women in Architecture in 1934 for women practicing in the profession. Alpha Alpha Gamma remained the undergraduate affiliate. In 1982 the AWA changed its name to the Association for Women in Architecture. Now headquartered in Los Angeles, California, with members-at-large across the country. Records include committee reports, administrative correspondence, membership forms and rosters, photographs, scrapbooks, treasurer's files, and newsletters.
